Bumpers - TV Fractal

TV Fractal was an online music video streaming web created in Córdoba, Argentina, under the slogan “Mirá lo que escuchas” (“See what you listen to”). I was given complete creative freedom to design and animate a series of short bumpers — simple yet visually striking compositions that captured the vibrant, MTV-inspired spirit of the channel.

My role: Full Development

Client: TV Fractal

Design and Animation: Lucas Scala

Audio Bumper #2:  Bruselas Gonza Nehuén

Audio Bumper #3:  Llamame – Rayos Laser

These colorful animations were produced seven years ago, and while they may feel a bit distant from what I’m capable of creating today, I believe they’ve aged surprisingly well. I wanted to include them among my selected works as a small tribute to that stage of exploration and playfulness that shaped the way I approach animation today.

For this piece the animation was composed using a combination of royalty-free footage and clips from various music videos. The soundtrack was crafted through an experimental mix of musical layers and sound effects, enhancing the rhythm and atmosphere of each piece.

For this animation, I wanted to go for something weird — grotesque, absurd, and rough on purpose. It was a chance to explore strange ideas and experiment with frame-by-frame animation, color, and shading. I also designed the sound effects myself, using ‘Bruselas’ by Gonza Nehuén as the main track.

For this bumper, I reworked footage from the music video Llamame by Rayos Láser, making adjustments to the band members and various elements within the scenes. Here are some frame captures and details from the process.
